Less is Truly Sometimes More......Beauty of Simplicity

Fine cabinetry is an art form. This project was a labor of love by several members of my team. Our goal was to channel the proto-modern design sensibility of Charles Voysey. If you don't know Voysey you're in for a wonderful discovery, just Google this divine architect and designer. His exceptional design vocabulary was the foundation for an English style house near New York City.  We've all heard that God is in the Details, countered by the Devil is in the Details, but I believe "Beauty is in the Details"   I designed this kitchen while Principal of Hotel & Home at Glave & Holmes, a small regional Virginia firm specializing in traditional design. The design of a fine home includes everything,.....even the kitchen sink! Soapstone countertops, hammered vintage zinc farm sink, brush-painted cabinetry.

Simplicity can be beautiful. Ann Sachs tile, Wolf stove and simple cabinetry......note the bead edge frame, brackets, and aged nickel hardware.

This remains one of my favorite kitchen designs. Art glass transom, Vaughan lighting fixture, adjoining butler's pantry. Ceiling is reclaimed old growth limed oak.
