The Creator: Interviews with Extraordinary, Bold, and Creative Individuals
Dear Readers,
Welcome to the first issue of "The Creator" my interview series with a broad range of creative personalities from the worlds of design (fashion, interiors, architecture, and gardens), visual arts, culinary arts, acting, music, and dance. I have conducted each interview in person and have aspired to ask the questions you might ask if you were sharing a glass of wine with one of these fascinating people. In many cases I did share a glass of wine or perhaps a martini. I have intentionally avoided the standard PR questions, instead focusing on early influences and inspirations, the career turning point for each individual, their secret passions, and their goals for the future. I have found each subject to be inspiring and surprisingly honest and down to earth.
For me the most fascinating people are self-made, self-motivated, self-aware, and yes always self-effacing. I have very little interest in silver spoon dilettante who drift through life feeling entitled and self-important. For me the greatest success in life is to strive, achieve, and create one's own persona and world view. Each of the personalities included in "The Creator" series has lived this life. I felt very humbled to spend time with these fascinating individuals and will be forever grateful for their time and honesty. I ended each interview with my version of the now famous, James Lipton questions from his legendary series "Inside The Actor's Studio". It is amazing how humor disarms and encourages people to let their hair down and set their normal filters aside. And yes I learned the favorite curse word of each of these famous subjects.
