Travers Trims Introduces, "Place Vendome"

One the most joyful aspects of being a professional designer is having the world's best tradesmen arrive at your doorstep with exquisite designs and treasures. And so it was yesterday when our Zimmer-Rohde sales rep brought in the elegant trims from Travers. The new Travers trim collection was inspired during a retrospective celebration of the 160-year history of a famed French jeweler at the Grand Palais in Paris. The jeweler's eldest son developed a particular interest in the colorations of the ballet costumes during a performance in Paris of the Russian Ballet in 1910. The color and jewel pairings, coupled with geometric designs established the unique style, which is still known today. Here are some dazzling examples of the art of passementerie. Photography for this story are by Kip Dawkins of Richmond.
